Highlight: Mixed outlook for pharmaceutical crops in California

Pharmaceutical crops - those genetically engineered to produce medicines, vaccines and other pharmaceutical proteins - have been cultivated on a limited scale in California, amid increasing regulations, according to a review article published in the April-June 2007 issue of the University of California's peer-reviewed California Agriculture journal.
